Xue Zhong Liu, MD, Ph.D, FACS is a tenured Associate Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology and the Director of University of Miami Molecular Genetic Laboratory at the University of Miami Ear Institute. He specializes in the treatment of hearing loss, nasal/sinus disorders and sleep apnea. He is fully licensed and board certified in Otolaryngology. Dr. Liu is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, fellow of American College of Surgeons, American Rhinological Society, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, Florida Society of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, Greater Miami ENT Society, American Society of Human Genetics, and the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO).
Dr. Liu graduated in the top of his class from the West China University of Medical Sciences in Chengdu, China. He completed general surgery and Otolaryngology residency and has been on staff for several years at the University of Miami Department of Otolaryngology which has been ranked among the best programs in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Liu obtained his Ph.D in Human Genetics and Audiological Medicine in the University of Manchester, England.
Dr. Liu is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and medical book chapters. His research activities on hearing loss has been funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) over a decade. He is Hurong (Hunan, China) Endowed Visiting Professorship. He has received national and international recognition for his clinical activities, teaching and research in the field of hearing loss. He was selected by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America” in 2011. He has also been the guest speaker at numerous national and international otolaryngology meetings over the last 5 years presenting his clinical and research accomplishment.
