Editorial board members perform an essential role in the scholarly communication process. Key tasks are described below.
Peer Review
Each journal's editorial board is its primary source of peer reviewers. Editorial board members may decline individual review requests if they are unable to accommodate the request around other work. The frequency with which requests are received is dependent on volume of submissions received by the journal, submissions matching members' area of expertise, and the size of the editorial board.
Consulting on Editorial Matters
Editorial board members may occasionally be consulted on questions relating to specific papers or to the journal generally. This may include making editorial decisions on papers where the normal editorial decision-maker (the editor in chief or associate editor) is unavailable or has declared a conflict of interest.
Other Tasks
Editorial board members are required to inform the publisher of any changes to their contact and affiliation details. Failure to keep details up-to-date may lead to removal. Journals welcome submissions from editorial board members and requests for fee waivers or discounts will be assigned a high priority, but must be applied for prior to manuscript submission. Editorial board members are ambassadors for the journal and should support and promote it.
Apply to Join an Editorial Board
Only applications that meet the following basic criteria will be referred to the editor in chief, who will at his or her discretion apply additional criteria. Successful applicants will be notified by journal staff within eight weeks.

What Your Colleagues Say AboutLibertas Academica
In my opinion the review process in all the Libertas Academica journals I have had the privilege of reviewing papers for is second to none. The entire process is a click away and all the editorial staff are very cooperative. The papers that are submitted are of top quality and I am sure the journals will gain the status of high impact journals in a very short time.
