Deputy Editor in Chief
The deputy editor in chief provides support to the editor in chief on editorial decision-making, and is responsible for editorial-decisions when the editor in chief is unavailable or has declared a conflict of interest.
Susan Ramsey, PhD
Dr. Ramsey is an Associate Professor (Research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and the Department of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1989 and received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University in 1995. She completed a one-year clinical internship through the Indiana University School of Medicine Psychology Training Consortium and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies.
Dr. Ramsey's research focuses on the confluence of substance use, psychiatric disorders, and medical issues. She has served as principal investigator on 7 NIH-funded clinical trials. In addition, Dr. Ramsey is a co-investigator on numerous clinical trials in the areas of substance abuse, at-risk drinking, smoking cessation, and interpersonal violence. Dr. Ramsey currently has 75 peer-reviewed publications. She has reviewed grant applications for NIH and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for 15 scientific journals.
