Dr Vicky Schneider studied biology at the University of Rome and obtained her PhD on the evolution of sex at the University of Leiden (NL) and Lyon (France).
Vicky’s current role entails communicating The Genome Analysis Centre's research and mission to a wide variety of audiences, from specialists to the general public.
Previously, Dr. Schneider was the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) User Training Coordinator. Prior to joining EMBL-EBI in 2007 she held an Assistant Professor position at the University of Bern and the Institute for Aquatic Sciences (EAWAG) and postdocs at the University of Zurich and University of Rome (Torvergata).
Currently Dr. Schneider is part of the Management Committee of the European COST Action: Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis Network (SeqAhead) and remains heavily involved with GOBLET and other initiatives.
The Role of the Editor in Chief
The editor in chief is responsible for editorial decision-making on papers submitted to the journal. The editor in chief is also responsible for editorial matters that include but are not limited to journal supplements, the journal's aims and scope, the editorial board and volunteer peer reviewer pool, editorial assessment of video abstracts, assignment to published papers of endorsements, and for consulting on pre-submission inquiries from authors.
