Dr Shiva M. Singh (PhD in Genetics) is a Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Molecular Genetics in the Department of Biology, Division of Medical Genetics (Paediatrics), and Division of Developmental Disability (Psychiatry) at the University of Western Ontario, where he is also Graduate Faculty in Biology, Bioinformatics and Neuroscience. In addition to these roles he is an Associate Scientist in Molecular Medical Genetics at the Child Health Research Institute of the London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario and a Senior Research Fellow of the Ontario Mental Health Foundation.
Dr Singh has received a number of honors, including the Senior Award of Excellence from the Genetics Society of Canada and Distinguished Research Professorship of the Faculty of Science. He has published over 200 papers in international journals and has supervised ~50 graduate students. His research interests are molecular (epi-) genetics and neurogenomics, and specifically the molecular analysis of disease-causing genetic mutations and epimutations as a means to understand the functioning of the brain. His current foci are Schizophrenia, Alcoholism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and animal models of complex disorders.
The Role of the Editor in Chief
The editor in chief is responsible for editorial decision-making on papers submitted to the journal. The editor in chief is also responsible for editorial matters that include but are not limited to journal supplements, the journal's aims and scope, the editorial board and volunteer peer reviewer pool, editorial assessment of video abstracts, assignment to published papers of endorsements, and for consulting on pre-submission inquiries from authors.
