Author Interview with Dr Pascale Salameh

Dr Salameh is the author of Saliva Cotinine and Exhaled Carbon Monoxide in Real Life Waterpipe Smokers: A Post Hoc Analysis which was recently published in Tobacco Use Insights.

The Editor in Chief of Tobacco Use Insights recently issued a call for papers.

What is the primary focus of your research?

Epidemiology of chronic diseases in Lebanon, mainly respiratory diseases.

What are the most exciting developments arising from current research in your area?

The scoring of waterpipe dependence.

Who are your main collaborators? Please describe your work with them

Professor Mirna Waked: she is a pulmonologist; we have been working together since 1999; she handles the clinical part (including medical writing), and I take care of the field work and statistical analysis.

What do you think about the development of open access publishing? What motivated you to use it?

I was thrilled by the idea of higher exposure.
