Author interview with Dr Jean-Claude Debouzy

Posted Wed, Nov, 25,2009

Dr Debouzy is the author of Study of Alkylglycerol Containing Shark Liver Oil: a Physico Chemical Support for Biological Effect? which was recently published in Drug Target Insights.

The Editor in Chief of Drug Target Insights recently issued a call for papers.

What is the primary focus of your research?

Membrane biophysics; NMR; non ionizing radiations drug-membrane interactions.

What are the most exciting developments arising from current research in your area?

Biological effects of electromagnetic radiations.

Who are your main collaborators? Please describe your work with them

  • David Crouzier, PhD; ESR studies, oxidative stress, non ionizing radiations, environmental toxicology

  • Florence Fauvelle, PhD; NMR and metabolomics

  • Sebastien Follot, PhD; antiapoptotic drugs, proteomics, genomics

How did you come to be working in your research area?

I was MD first, then I undertook a thesis in biophysics, including spectroscopic methods (NMR), antiviruses drugs and membrane biophysics. My intitution asked me to focus more on electromagnetic fields' biological effects.

What do you think about the development of open access publishing? What motivated you to use it?

Very favorable. This is a promising way for information exchange and knowledge improvement.

What articles and/or books have you published recently?
