New Editor in Chief for Clinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology

Libertas is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Thomas E. Vanhecke to the position of Editor in Chief for Clinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology.

Dr Vanhecke replaces Dr Martin LeWinter who returns to the journal's editorial board.  Dr Vanhecke previously served as the journal's associate editor.

Thomas E. Vanhecke, MD is Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Noninvasive Imaging at Genesys Regional Medical Center/Ascension Healthcare, Grand Blanc, Michigan, USA.

Dr. Vanhecke is a Consultant Cardiologist and the Director of Noninvasive Imaging at Genesys Regional Medical Center/Ascension Healthcare. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular computed tomography, adult echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Vanhecke received his medical degree at the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. He went on to complete his residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship at the William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI.

At Genesys Regional Medical Center, Dr. Vanhecke leads an active research team that focuses on disease prevention and determinants of cardiovascular disease, such as obesity, the metabolic syndrome, novel biomarkers, and congestive heart failure. He has published over 60 medical communications, including over 25 peer-reviewed original articles and reviews and several book chapters and other sources of online medical references.
