The 13th ISTRY (International Society for Tryptophan Research) conference is scheduled to take place in Sydney, Australia from the 7th – 9th November 2012.
The ISTRY conference will be attract some of the world’s leading tryptophan experts who will be discussing the role of tryptophan metabolites in chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and molecular medicine.
The ISTRY executive committee organizes triennial conferences to discuss and promote knowledge of chemical and biological aspects of tryptophan research. Since the first conference in 1974, chemists, anatomists, molecular biologists, immunologists, psychiatrists, oncologists, and other specialists have presented and discussed data on the roles of tryptophan and its main metabolites in animal and human nutrition, behavior, and other aspects of physiology and pathology.
The following topics will be discussed at the 13th conference in Sydney:
New methods and tools to detect and quantify tryptophan and its metabolites
Indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase (IDO) and tryptophan 2, 3-dioxygenase (TDO) structure and function in biology and medicine
Serotonin and melatonin in neurobiology and pharmacology
Tryptophan-kynurenine pathway metabolites and their receptors in brain and periphery
NAD+ synthesis and metabolism
Nutrition aspects of TRP and its metabolites (appetite, eating disorders and obesity)
Tryptophan metabolism and immune response
Tryptophan metabolism in pathology Part 1
Tryptophan metabolism in pathology Part 2
Therapeutic strategies targeting tryptophan metabolism
International Journal of Tryptophan Research looks forward to publishing papers presented at ISTRY in a journal supplement. Further information on this will be announced soon.
