Prof. Dr Hassan Dihazi has been the Group Leader of Proteomics at the Department of Nephrology and Rheumatology at the Georg-August University Goettingen since 2003. In 2006 he also became Director of the Clinical Proteomics Facility in the Medical Centre Goettingen at the same institution. Previously he worked as a scientist at the IZKF in Leipzig. Before that he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Biochemistry Institute at the University of Leipzig, where he received his PhD in Biochemistry.
Prof. Dr Dihazi’s research focuses on identifying and characterizing key proteins connecting cellular stress response pathways. His group also seeks to develop new clinical proteomics approaches for earlier diagnosis of human diseases or for biomarker discovery.
Prof. Dr Dihazi is a council member of the Human Kidney and Urine Proteomics Project, and the European Kidney and Urine Proteomics Association, and others. He is also the co-founder of the Goettingen Proteomics Forum. He is involved in several proteomics journals as editorial board member and reviewer. He has published a number of articles on proteomics, especially their relation to kidney function. He has just received the "Outstanding Contribution for a Publication in the International Journal Clinical Chemistry" award.
