Dr Erich Bornberg-Bauer is a Professor of Bioinformatics at the School of Biological Sciences, Westfälische Wilhelms University, Münster, Germany, and Head of Division of the Evolution of Biopolymers and Biochemical Pathways (EBB) group.
His areas of research include principles of molecular evolution and genotypic variation, modular evolution of proteins, evolution of networks and pathways, and evolution and adaptation in response to biotic and abiotic stress. He is the author of 85+ peer reviewed articles with ca.2900 citations (SCI).

The Role of the Editor in Chief
The editor in chief has delegated to the associate editors responsibility for editorial decision-making on papers submitted to the journal. The editor in chief is responsible for editorial matters that include but are not limited to journal supplements, the journal's aims and scope, the editorial board and volunteer peer reviewer pool, editorial assessment of video abstracts, assignment to published papers of endorsements, and for consulting on pre-submission inquiries from authors.
