New SCImago Journal Ranking for Cancer Informatics

Posted Wed, Oct, 19,2011

Libertas is pleased to announce that Cancer Informatics has recently been given a SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) ranking of 0.23.

In addition to the SJR ranking, SCImago also calculated that articles published in Cancer Informatics receive and average of 1.35 cites each, totalling 129 cites for the journal since 2007.

The SJR Ranking system is similar to impact factors in that it calculates the level of online visibility for journals, but different as each of them are calculated based on different information.  The ranking is calculated for all journals indexed in Elsevier’s Scopus database using the Google PageRank algorithm. Ranking was first done in 1996, but seeing as Cancer Informatics is a relatively new journal, it has only recently been ranked.

The benefit of this ranking for authors is that they can see which journals have high online visibility and citation rate, so they know which journals to publish in to get the highest readership and exposure.  The ranking for Cancer Informatics is especially impressive given how new the journal is, and shows that Libertas’ journals include many high quality papers, and receive high online visibility.
