New Editor in Chief – Clinical Medicine Insights: Geriatrics

We welcome Dr Atsushi Sakuraba as the new Editor in Chief of Clinical Medicine Insights: Geriatrics.

Dr Atsushi Sakuraba is an Instructor at the University of Chicago’s Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.  He is also interested in the immune system in the elderly and is studying the effect of biologic therapy in elderly IBD patients. 

Dr Sakuraba's clinical interests include gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, mucosal immunology, gastrointestinal endoscopy, colon cancer, and microscopic colitis. His research is aimed at better understanding how and why IBD develops in order to provide more effective treatment options. He has studied the safety and efficacy of several drugs designed to treat IBD.
